About Out of Sight Home Technologies

A Control4 dealer with sixteen years in Florida and three in Wisconsin, working out of a Waukesha showroom.

Florida to Wisconsin

We started this company in 2007 in Maitland, Florida, and ran it there for sixteen years. In 2023 we sold the Florida business and opened in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Three years in, the work here looks the same as it always has: one system that runs the whole house, built by the people who wire it.

What moved was the address, not the way we work. Same platform, same construction-schedule process, same small crew doing the wiring and the programming instead of handing it off. The company is younger here than in Florida, but the habits are not.

A lot of the families we work with in Wisconsin also have a house in Florida, and for some of them we have done both. We do not name clients or towns, but if you split your year between two houses, it is not the first time we have heard that.

How a project runs

Most of what we build is a whole-house project that runs on a construction schedule, alongside the electrician and the framers. We start with a consultation at the house, then a design pass that turns what you asked for into a wiring plan and a number. Rough-in happens while the walls are open, or it happens the harder way in a retrofit, fishing wire through finished walls. Trim comes after drywall and paint. Programming comes last, once the fixtures and displays are actually hanging.

One number covers the job, agreed on before rough-in starts, not padded room by room as the schedule moves. And when it is finished, the only sign any of it exists is a rack in a closet you never have a reason to open.

We also plan individual-room projects: a theater, a media room, a single space that needed to catch up to the rest of the house. The process is the same, just shorter.

What's in the rack

Every system we build runs on Control4. We are an authorized Control4 dealer and Control4 certified, which means the programming, the app, and the keypads on the wall are all built on one platform instead of a shelf of remotes. The distribution and amplification gear behind that platform varies by house, and the photograph below shows Control4, Triad, and Luma equipment in one of our racks, labeled and ready to service.

Who shows up

Noel runs the company. Greg is the systems engineer and handles the engineering side of every design, working out the wiring plan before the crew is ever on site. Conrad is the senior technician who does the wiring and the trim work in the field. Those are the three people you will deal with, start to finish, from the first walkthrough to the last programming visit.

Our Parade of Homes house was built with J&J in Sussex, one of the builders we work alongside on new construction. Working a show house the same way we work a private one, on the same construction schedule, is part of how we keep builders coming back. If we take a service call on a system we did not install, we look at it after a consultation, as long as the existing equipment is workable.
