For a newly registered Control4 system in the United States, budget for Control4 Connect as a required software service. The older statement that every Control4 subscription is optional does not describe a new installation.
Control4 states that Connect became required for newly registered U.S. systems on April 23, 2024. Older systems can have different arrangements, so the answer for a house you already own needs a check of its registration and software.
Connect and 4Sight are not interchangeable names
Control4's documentation identifies 4Sight as a service for systems installed before April 23, 2024. Connect replaces it for newer systems. An article or forum answer about an older installation may therefore describe different requirements from those that apply to your project.
See Control4's 4Sight documentation and the manufacturer's Connect registration guidance.
Ask about the system you are buying
Before approving a proposal, ask which software service applies, its current renewal terms, which features it includes and who manages the account. We do not publish subscription prices here; current terms should be confirmed for the proposed system.
For an existing home, provide the controller model and details of the current installation. A change of ownership or a system upgrade may affect the applicable service. Do not cancel an existing service on the assumption that it has no effect.
A software service is different from an installer visit
Keep the manufacturer's software service separate from the work an installer performs. Troubleshooting, adding devices and changing programming are different questions from software renewal. Ask what the installation includes and how subsequent changes are handled.
OOSHT does not advertise a support-plan package. If you need help with an existing system, contact us so we can understand the equipment and the work involved.
A subscription question is also a budgeting question
Your proposal should make the initial installation and applicable recurring services understandable before you commit. Our Control4 cost guide explains the other variables to compare.
