Plan the visit around decisions
For a Madison project, a useful first conversation should identify the questions that need to be answered at the house. Send or bring a floor plan, describe existing equipment, and explain whether the work is a new build, a renovation, or an upgrade to an occupied home. We can then discuss the next step without assuming a travel time or promising a one-day installation.
If a builder, electrician, or designer is involved, identify the person coordinating the schedule. Decisions about wiring access, equipment space, lighting circuits, and shade power are easier to discuss with the right people involved before the work is covered up.
Whole-house control starts with a room list
List each room and what you want it to do. Music in the kitchen, a simple television remote in the living room, and a bedtime lighting scene are different requirements. Control4 can bring compatible systems together, but the equipment and programming need to be specified for the functions you actually want.
For a theater, include the proposed seating position, window light, and whether the room is dedicated to movies. For whole-house audio, separate shared listening areas from rooms that need independent sources. These details make a system proposal easier to compare than a list of brand names.
Discuss support before choosing the system
Ask which changes require an installer, which controls you can adjust yourself, and which remote features depend on an internet connection or a platform subscription. Local operation and remote access are different capabilities. Make sure the proposal explains both for the equipment being installed.
Our showroom is in Waukesha; we do not advertise a Madison office. Ask how follow-up work will be scheduled for your property. If someone else installed the existing system, start with a consultation to determine whether it is workable before assuming a service appointment can resolve it.
A useful first message
- The Madison project address and whether anyone currently occupies the home.
- The rooms and services under consideration, plus existing equipment models.
- The date wiring decisions are needed, if construction is underway.
- The builder, designer, or electrician coordinating related work.
- What successful everyday use would look like for your household.
Questions before you start
Does OOSHT have a Madison showroom?
Our showroom is in Waukesha at 2110 Pewaukee Rd, Unit B. We serve Madison and arrange project visits from that base. Call before making a showroom trip.
What should I ask about remote access and subscriptions?
Ask which features work within the house, which require internet access, and which require a paid service for the proposed system. Request the current platform requirements in the proposal. Our Control4 subscription guide explains the questions to bring.
